Dave Chappelle is a comedic genius. If there was a Nobel Prize for Comedic Genius,
this man right here would have lot’s of them.
Dave’s incredible genius is often overlooked because his comedy is so outlandishly funny. But if we look at the underlying theme, we see that Dave is doing more than just mocking racism, he is demonstrating that racism is a cultural construct and that we are all of one race, the Human Race.
With its specifically race-focused humor, Chappelle’s Show’s created a space for shows like Key & Peele and, most recently, The New Negroes. Sixteen years later, Chappelle’s comedic talent is already with capital letters wrote in comedy history, and in the hearts of the audience. The audience recognized his unique talent and love his deep, like me ,even from his first appearance.Especially for me even to watch him face ,he make my day!!Chappelle played a number of loud and crazy characters , Tyrone Biggums, Samuel L. Jackson, Rick James and that’s what made his quietly intense impersonation of Prince such a great twist from the norm.
In his”True Hollywood stories:PRINCE ,Chappelle is lovable as Prince, playing him as a cool !!! In this skit, cast member Charlie Murphy (Eddie’s older brother) recalls a night with Prince in the ’80s and met Eddie Murphy! He is hysterical as Eddie Murphy too!!that included a crazy game of basketball (teams are divided by shirts and blouses) and Prince cooking up breakfast. A story where Prince, an icon, beats him at basketball and then make him a pancake dinner.
The real Prince liked the skit so much that he used an image of Chappelle as Prince, holding up a plate of pancakes, as the art for his single “Breakfast Can Wait” this year!!!!
One of the most classic sketches eveeeer! All you have to say is “I’m Rick James, bitch!” This sketch did more for Rick James than a Hollywood biopic ever could. Chappelle is having a blast playing the legendary artist.
The skit most closely associated with “Chappelle’s Show” is Charlie Murphy, again recalls a bizarre Hollywood encounter (with the real Rick James offering his own bewildering account of events) that included James soiling Eddie Murphy’s couch and inexplicably slapping Charlie Murphy in the face.
He’s like a coked-up Bugs Bunny, and Charlie Murphy is Elmer Fudd trying not to lose his mind. Aplus on this were that added Rick James himself !!!
The legendary Paul Mooney impersonation was one of Chappelle bests!! Whether he was answering general questions Paul Mooney was the master of his art form. This sketch was always changing, because he was the star and he was talking about everything he wants, didnt matter the question!.The special in my opinnion was about Mooney’s thoughts on film, “Mooney On Movies” where he just riffed on whatever was playing that week,or month!!
In Chappelle’s Lil’ Jon impression we can see how much he loving it!! Dave enjoys and admires the rapper who the energy of a teenager .
The sketches hinge on this image of Lil’ Jon as an overly positive man! Chappelel is the perfect actor to play the rapper behind Crunk Juice as an early incarnation of Bojack Horseman‘s Mr!
This sketch was great,he played the character of P.Diddy who supposed cared about helping young artists get big. In his “Making the Band” not only perfectly shows the spirit of Diddy’s vanity project, but he made fun of a very rich man wielding his power over working class people and pretending the powerful man ,that he can build them!
Also,he played amazing other characters in this sketch like Dylan, and more and for one more time Cappelle show his charisma in comedy!!
Silky Johnson is one of Chappelle’s best characters, and every line out of his mouth is quotable. The voice that Chappelle picked for this character is hilarious af, and that toothpick makes it 10x funnier!
“Why don’t you click your heels together three times, and go back to Africa”, “YOU LOOK LIKE A BOOTLEG ICE-T!” To Ice-T, “Now as I sip my soda, that i’m sure somebody spit in” , “He looks like a broke-ass sexual chocolate”, “Silky’s mink made outta 100% rat ass! Hit me, baby!” “Then his girl sprays down his jheri curl.”He got them Dolphin teeth” , “What can I say about this suit that hasn’t been said about Afghanistan?”, “That motherfucka pumped my gas in my car on the way over here.”, “Now if you will excuse me ive gotta go put some water in buck nastys mamas dish.”
!!Easily, one of the greatest Chappelle Show skits of all time. I remember watching this for the first time and literally losing my breath because I was laughing so hard.Dave “Playa Hater’s Ball” ,takes that history and makes something new in the Comedy history!RIP Patrice O’Neal, Charlie Murphy,,,we miss you!
